Camel with all legs chopped off discovered dead in Sindh

Another case of animal abuse in Sindh occurred when a camel with all four legs removed was discovered dead at the Morjhango bend near Kunri tehsil.

According to videos obtained by Geo News, the poor animal was left in the middle of the street with all of its limbs removed.

Abdul Rashid, the camel’s owner, stated that the animal was unwell and had gone to graze the day before.
“[We] don’t want to accuse anyone,” the owner told Geo News, adding that he is seeking information about the situation.
“I have about 40-45 female camels. “While they all returned from grazing last evening, she was left behind alone,” he explained.

“God knows who made her run, beat her, and sever her legs. We don’t know anything yet… we’ll see what happens next.” Rashid claimed he learned about the event this morning.
While it is too early to determine whether this is another incidence of animal cruelty, it is the second upsetting incident involving a camel in the last few weeks.

Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha on June 14, a landlord and his servants allegedly physically tormented a camel for wandering onto his field for fodder, amputating one of its legs as punishment in Sanghar’s Mundh Jamrao district.

The footage of the incident went viral on social media, prompting thousands of people to denounce the terrible behaviour.
Following a social media outcry and a plea from animal rights advocates and the general public to stop animal cruelty, officials acted quickly and arrested six people engaged in the abuse.

On June 20, a Sanghar court sentenced them to two days of physical remand.

On June 15, the victim camel was taken to Karachi for treatment. A non-governmental body was also looking after its rehabilitation. The camel was given the name Cammie by the charity.
