Yasmin Rashid Announces Organ Donation After Death

During a press conference on Tuesday, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid revealed that she will give her organs after death, noting that saving a life is equivalent to saving all of humanity.

“I am making an announcement to donate all of my medically-fit organs after death,” the provincial health minister said during a press conference at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI), where the parents of a child who is currently on the ventilator have announced that they will donate the organs of their child after a death.

She stated that the parents made the decision to donate their child’s liver and kidney, which was a difficult decision for them given that their child was on a ventilator and breathing his last breaths at the time.

According to Dr. Yasmin Rashid, “This is the first time that parents have donated the organs of their kid when their child is dying.”

She praised the PKLI team and stated that 70 percent of the transplants performed at the institute are provided free of charge. She also thanked people who have generously donated their organs.

“PKLI has so far completed 140 liver transplants, 231 kidney transplants, and 58,000 dialyzes in a year,” she added, adding that the bone-marrow transplant center would be operational by the next year.

She expressed regret for the way the hospital had been operated earlier and stated that the health facility was being run in accordance with its genuine spirit of serving the people and providing them with superior healthcare services during the current administration.
