In June, Xiaomi was worlds largest smartphone provider

Samsung was the worlds largest smartphone provider for a long time. But according to data from Counterpoint Research, Xiaomi actually seems to have overtaken Samsung to become the worlds largest smartphone provider in June. A position that rival Huawei could take, but not the problem he has with US government in recent years.
According to Counterpoint in June, Xiaomi’s global smartphone market share has estimated at around 17.1%, while Samsung’s was 15.7%. In third place is Apple with 14.3%. It should be noted, however, that the counterpoint date is for the month of June. If you look at the whole quarter, Samsung is still clearly ahead, but it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi catches up.

Counterpoint believes that one of the reasons Xiaomi managed to become number one in June. It was due to supply bottlenecks due to the market situation in Vietnam. Where Samsung manufactures and ships most of its phones. They believe that once this has fixed, Samsung should get back on track to maintain its leadership position.

With that in mind, Xiaomi has a lot of work to do for them. Especially when it comes to the value of the phone. While they don’t need to be ahead of Samsung in flagships. Their budget phones might be enough to capture more of the cake, but we’ll have to wait and see how it goes.
