World Bank will provide a $ 12 million grant to temporarily displaced in FATA

The World Bank will provide an additional grant of US $ 12 million to assist the temporarily displaced in FATA.

The Minister of Economic Affairs, Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar, also witnessed the signing ceremony of the Additional Donation Agreement of the “Emergency Recovery Project for Temporarily Displaced Persons” for $ 12 million with the World Bank.

Moreover, The FATA Early Recovery Project for Temporary Displaced Persons (TDP-ERP) aims to support the early recovery of families affected by displacement, promote child health and improve the provision of citizen-centered services in the former tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The project will now cover four new areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province which are Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and Bannu, as well as Kurram, Khyber, Orakzai, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Mohmand, and Bajaur districts.

But With this additional donation of US $ 12 million, the total cost of this project would be US $ 216 million.

Noor Ahmed, Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs signed the grant agreement on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, while the NADRA representative signed the Project Agreement.

However, Ms. Malinda Good, “World Bank Operations Manager, signed the agreement on behalf of the World Bank”.

On the occasion, the Minister for Economic Affairs repeated his government’s commitment to support development activities in the merged areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and also improve the provision of basic services closer to its doors.

The Minister also appreciated the role of Nadra in achieving the objectives of the project.

Economy Minister Mahdum Husro Bakhtar also thanked the World Bank team for the continued support from the Pakistani government for sustainable economic development in the country.

Moreover,The World Bank’s Operations Manager has guaranteed its continued support to the Government of Pakistan to achieve priority development goals.
