Murad Raas Punjab Education Minister declared winter vacation for all students in public and private schools across the province of Punjab from December 23 to January 6, 2022.
While announcing the timetable, the education minister also recommended the public to get vaccinated and adhere to government-mandated standard operating procedures (SOPs), highlighting the emergence of the novel coronavirus variant Omicron in Pakistan.
On Monday, Pakistan verified the country’s first incidence of the new type, which occurred in a patient who had no previous travel history.
The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) had eventually chosen January 3, 2022, as the date for the beginning of winter vacations at educational institutions across the country, just hours before Raas’ statement.
During a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCOC), presided over by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar and NCOC chief Asad Umar, to examine the rescheduling of winter holidays, the date was finalized on Friday.
Last Monday, the Government of Sindh declared winter vacations for all public and private schools and colleges in the province, which will run from December 20 to January 1, 2022.
