WhatsApp introduces a time-saving chat feature

All sorts of big and small changes also are made to WhatsApp, and the new version that is just released is more of a quality-of-life update like a time-saving chat feature. There is a brand new conversation feature in the messaging app that will help you keep track of your unread messages.

WhatsApp says that its new “unread messages” filter makes it easier to see what messages you have not read yet. More than a month ago, the popular WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo found this addition. If you’re curious, you can see what it will look like in the screenshot below.

WhatsApp now has an unread filter option when searching for messages or media in your chat list. This makes it much easier to quickly get to conversations in which unread messages. It is helpful for people whose chat list is so long that it’s hard to see who hasn’t replied. Thank goodness there are not any more embarrassing talks with mom about how you forgot an item on the grocery list or you’re too busy talking.

Last month, only beta testers has access to the features. This month, the stable upgrade is going out to everyone, everywhere in the world. If you want this chat feature in WhatsApp, you should upgrade to the latest version.

Update on the Situation

The ability to see status updates from within the chat list is another feature that WhatsApp is working on right now. This update is currently under testing and will become available in the coming weeks. Those who forget to check their friends and family’s status updates must find this feature very helpful.

Many WhatsApp users, however, have said that this addition would make the conversation list too full. So, it’s possible that WhatsApp won’t ever make the feature a permanent update.
