Usman Buzdar Says PTI will Perform Well in Punjab LG Election

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has predicted that the PTI will win local government elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the inaugural ceremony of Gulab Devi Underpass, which is now named after Abdul Sattar Edhi, he remarked this in response to questioning from the media.

The three-lane underpass, according to the chief minister, will facilitate the circulation of around 132,000 vehicles while saving 60 million rupees through transparent tendering.

Provincial Educational Ministers Murad Raas, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Asad Khokhar, Ejaz Alam, parliamentarians, PTI leaders, SACM Hasaan Khawar, IG police, and other officials were also present.

According to Usman Buzdar, The Gulberg to Jail Road (Siddique Trade Center) flyover, was also named after poet Munir Niazi. The Abdul Sattar Edhi Underpass has finished two months ahead of schedule, for which the DG LDA and members of the governing board should be commended, he added.

He noted that the celebration was held in the underpass to save taxpayer money and that the Punjab government had also saved millions of rupees by ensuring openness in every project.

The chief minister approved an Rs50 billion elevated expressway project to benefit Lahore residents. Similarly, to alleviate traffic congestion at Shahdara Morr, Rs6.50 billion will be spent on the building of multiple entries and departure points, he added.

In the meantime, the LDA has completed four important projects worth Rs2.45 billion in Lahore, including the Lal Shehbaz Qalandar underpass, Bab-e-Lahore, and the installation of pedestrian bridges at strategic locations to facilitate public mobility, he added.

Meanwhile, he said, more than Rs9.16 billion had been spent on the completion of three important projects in the provincial capital.

He said an additional lane was being built on the Lahore Bridge near the Children’s Hospital, the Data Ganj Bakhsh viaduct was being built for $4.90 billion and the Shahkam Chowk Viaduct project would cost $2.54 billion.

Buzdar pointed out that the existing government had finished the orange line metro train project by securing essential finance. He criticized the fact that the previous government conceived projects without regard for the wellbeing of the people, necessitating billions of rupees in subsidies to keep them running.

Moreover, He said that almost a billion rupees were being given to six projects as subsidies, including the orange line metro train, metro bus system, and feeder route system, and that the income from these projects was negligible.

In response to a query, he stated that the amount of work done in his department by Education Minister Murad Raas in just three years had not been done in the previous 70 years.
