USB Cables Will Get Faster Soon

The speed of USB cables will get faster all over the world. The USB Promoter Group has created a new standard for USB cables that lets them transfer data twice as faster soon.

We’re talking about USB4 here, and its latest iteration (Version 2.0) is capable of data transfers at speeds of up to 80 Gbps. The good news is that these new USB cables will work with USB4 1.0, USB 3.2, USB 2.0, Thunderbolt 3, and older ports. On the other hand, even though newer USB4 Version 2.0 ports are compatible with older USB cables. Older USB cables still work with newer ports. Also, it works well with modern standards like DisplayPort and PCIe.

Even though most users won’t need such fast data transfers. The new protocol will become very useful for high-performance screens, storage hubs, and docks. With 80 Gbps of bandwidth, adding an extra GPU to a laptop won’t slow it down much. This should make it possible to play games as you might on a PC while putting out a lot less heat.

On November 1, 2022, at the USB Developer Days 2022 conference. More information about the new USB4 Version 2.0 protocol is always given. We might get more benefits, but it’s too soon to say for sure.
