  • The strike ordered by Joe Biden, Pentagon confirmed it
  • A US official said the attack took place at the location which used as a smuggling operation by militants
  • The US has responded to missile attacks on coalition and US forces in the past two weeks

More than a month after taking the oath of office as President of the United States. President Biden took his first military action when US forces launched an offensive in Syria on Friday.

According to the Pentagon, attacks on Iranian militias have responded to rocket attacks on US forces in the region in the past two weeks.

A US official quoted by media said “a handful” of fighters killed in the attack.

Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said the militias hit by US forces were the same as those involved in rocket attacks on United States and coalition forces.

US President Biden must have to act

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby confirmed that the attack was carried out “at the direction of President Biden”. Furthermore we had authority to respond to recent attacks on US troops and to send messages to forces opposing US. Also opposing coalition personnels of us.

“In particular, the attack destroyed a number of facilities at border checkpoints used by a number of Iranian-backed combat groups. Whereas it includes Kata’ib Hezbollah and Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada,” Kirby said. “The operation sends a clear message. President Biden must have to act to protect US coalition personnel. At the same time, we have deliberately acted to bring down the overall situation in Eastern Syria and Iraq.”

The site hit by US troops is believed to be the location of a militia smuggling operation. A US official said the main purpose of the operation was to retaliate and destroy the militias ability to carry out attacks.

The decision, Austin said, was made by the US president and approved Thursday morning after recommending action against the fighters.

While speaking to the press, Austin said the United States was “confident about our goal” and added that “we know what we have achieved”.

“We have allowed and encouraged Iraqis to study. Also to develop information. Because this is very helpful in refining our goals,” he said.

The Pentagon also explained that the American President permitted the attack after consulting with allies.
