US and NATO badly failed in 20 years Afghan War: Hamid Karzai

The former Afghan President Hamid Karzai said the US and NATO failed in two-decade long war. The forces came here 20 years ago with the clear aim of fighting extremism and creating stability, but extremism is at its peak today. So they failed and their legacy in a war-torn nation is total disgrace and catastrophe. Moreover, troop’s withdrawal from Afghanistan is a disaster.

When US President Joe Biden announced the final withdrawal of the remaining troops in April, he said US has achieved its goal. Al-Qaeda has significantly reduced and Osama Bin Laden died. In an interview with the associated press Hamid said, “We all admit our mistakes as Afghans but what about the greater powers and forces?… It is better to go from Afghanistan. He think we should defend our own country and take care of our own lives.

With the final US military withdrawal, the need for a political deal appears to be growing in urgency. The desire of the Afghan people, mostly across the country is peace. They are frustrated by ruthless corruption, looting of criminal gangs. Some of which have linked to Kabul’s powerful military leader and growing insecurity. Few see a future that is not full of violence.

Moreover, Afghan people are united behind a great desire for peace and must now take responsibility for their future. We want this misery and humiliation that we are facing, not to continue.

Hamid Karzai Government…

Karzai’s government followed the fall of the Taliban in 2001 by a US-led coalition. It had launched an invasion to defeat the al-Qaeda network and its leader, Osama bin Laden after 9/11 attacks. Although, Karzai was in conflict with the United States during his 13-year rule. He wanted troops to withdraw.

But under Karzai’s rule, women gained more rights and girls returned to school. A vibrant young civil society emerged, new skyscrapers were built, roads and infrastructure were built in the capital Kabul.

He has uttered harsh words and uncompromising criticism of US military tactics in Afghanistan. He was very firm and clear that both sides need to think about the lives of the Afghan people and property. Afghan people are united and we have to recognize that this is our country and we have to stop killing.

But his administration has also plagued by allegations of corruption, a thriving drug trade, and immoral clashes with Washington.

His opinion about Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership considered as cultural relations.

Further, US President will meet at the White House with Afghan President to call for troop withdrawal and Taliban land discussions.
