Bagram Air Base: US Forces handed over the largest military base to Afghan Forces

US troops have left Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan while a full withdrawal is underway. A senior US official informed that all US troops have left Bagram Air Base. The main US military airfield is at an hour north of capital Kabul. Afghanistan also quoted that the largest US military Bargram Air base in Afghanistan had handed over to Afghan security forces.

In response to the September 11, 2001 attacks, the United States and its NATO allies launched a 2001 military operation in Afghanistan. But on 1 January 2015, the Resolute Support Mission replaced combat operations.

United States and the Taliban leadership signed a peaceful agreement in Doha in February 2020. Among other things arranged for the withdrawal of all foreign armed forces from Afghanistan in exchange for the Taliban. They have renounced violence and ensured that the country will not become a safe haven for terrorists. .

The US began withdrawing its last troop from Afghanistan in May. Biden’s government initially promised to complete the withdrawal by September 11 this year. But in late June, media reported that up to 1,000 troops will remain guarding US airports and diplomatic presence.
