UNGA president Volkan Bozkir comes to Pakistan

The president of the UN General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir, arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday from May 26-28 for a three-day visit.

PGA Volkan Bozkir arrived in Pakistan at the invitation of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement earlier in the day.

PGA landed in the country after visiting Bangladesh and will meet with senior Pakistani officials here during their three-day visit.

“After an important and fruitful official visit to Bangladesh, I came to Islamabad for my official visit to Pakistan,” said Volkan Bozkir.

“I look forward to my important meeting tomorrow in Islamabad,” he said.

During his stay in Islamabad, Bozkir will hold detailed talks with the foreign minister, the foreign ministry said, discussing various political and socio-economic issues on the UN agenda.

The United Nations General Assembly President president also tweeted about his departure.

The UN President will also discuss the importance of multilateralism. Volkan Bozkir is the first Turkish citizen to chair the UN General Assembly. He is a former diplomat and senior politician.

After a brilliant 39-year diplomatic career in the Turkish Foreign Service, Bozkir was elected three times to the Turkish parliament and became chairman of the parliament’s foreign committee and EU ministers.
