Multan: Seasoned pacesetter Umar Gul took four wickets to help Balochistan limit downtown Punjab (CP) to 165-7 and win the game by three points in the 12th match of the t20 National Cup.
Previously, it was Imam-ul-Haq who scored 80 55 ball runs with eight limits and six to lead Balochistan to 168-8 in the 20 overs respectively.Imam and Awais Zia (36) struck first and together scored 63 points to give Balochistan a strong start. Haris Sohail contributed 26 runs as no other hitter made double digits.
For CP, Ehsan Adil took three wickets while Zafar Gohar took two. Sohaibullah and Usman Qadir each shared a wicket.
In response, early Kamran Akmal and Abid Ali got CP off to a good 33-run start, but were unable to continue after Kamran fell to Gul’s fourth place. Abdullah Shafique fought hard to keep his team behind goal, scoring 54 runs on 41 intertwined balls with six limits, but Gul was in full swing catching another in-form batter.
In the end, Zafar held out and had 32 points, but Umaid Asif defended 22 points in the final pass to give his team another victory.Aside from Gul, Yasir Shah put out three wickets for the winning team.
