Twitter’s tipping feature now available on Android

Twitter’s in-app tipping feature is now available to all Android users over the age of 18. The “Tips” function allows users to solicit donations from their followers via Cash App, PayPal, Venmo, and Patreon. Moreover android users can now receive profile tips by selecting “Tips” from the “Edit profile” menu.

Twitter Tips can be used to help a content producer, raise money for a charity, or thank someone for making you laugh.

Twitter launched the functionality in May after rumours of a direct payment option surfaced. A month ago, Twitter released “Ticketed Spaces” for Android. Also the Hosts using Twitter’s live audio room feature Spaces can now sell admission to Spaces. The social media behemoth says the tool rewards authors for their work spent hosting and regulating public debates.

Not just Twitter is attempting to monetize its app and help authors earn a living. Additionally a new in-app tipping tool allows creators to take money from followers outside of TikTok LIVE streaming, where gifting has already accepted. Moreover the company said the feature is currently in restricted trials and not widely available.

The direct tipping options on TikTok and Twitter appear to be an effort for the firms to compete with other digital platforms like Instagram and YouTube, which pay creators well.
