Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey stepped down earlier this week. He made CTO Parag Agrawal CEO immediately. According to an internal email acquired by The Washington Post, Agrawal, a Twitter developer since 2011, announced a big restructure today.
Twitter’s Chief Design Officer Dantley Davis and Head of Engineering Michael Montano have both left the firm as part of the restructure.
It has reported in August that Davis’ “tough love” workplace philosophy went too far at times, according to corporate officials. The #LoveWhereYouWork and #OneTeam hashtags emphasise “creating a supportive, courteous, and fairly great vibe” culture.
A Twitter representative informed TechCrunch that Dantley’s departure was to “change our organizational model around a structure with one lead manager supporting a critical corporate aim”. “We can’t discuss these changes because we respect the people involved.”
Twitter’s goals and operational excellence have taken into consideration when these changes were made. As a result of our use of the General Manager model, one person is responsible for overseeing all of our core company goals. The Twitter spokeswoman stated, “This will enable us work more cross-functionally and make better decisions faster.”
New Features of Twitter in 2021
A shareholder earlier this year criticized and sued Dorsey over his dual CEO duties at Twitter and Square, the fintech firm he co-founded. Twitter had been hesitant to develop. But this year it has rapidly added new features including Twitter Blue, audio rooms. And also Super Follows, Ticketed Spaces, crypto features, and more. Agrawal wants to keep speeding up Twitter.
Agrawal wrote to staff on Monday, We’ve recently modified our strategy to accomplish ambitious targets. And I believe that strategy is bold and right. “How we execute and produce results is crucial to making Twitter the best it can be for our customers, shareholders, and each of you.”
It’s a big week for both firms Dorsey co-founded. Square rebranded to Block days after Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey announced his resignation.
