Twitter has launched a Twitter shopping pilot in the United States

Like most social media platforms, Twitter is free and makes money through advertising. However, putting all your eggs in one basket may not be the best idea, so it’s no surprise that Twitter is now looking at other ways to monetize its platform through a new pilot called Twitter Shopping.
If you’ve been following Twitter’s ambitions for some time. You may remember that the company was planning to start shopping in early 2015. But, as the company claims, backed away from its plans to shift to focus on other aspects. However, it seems that their shopping ambitions have returned.

According to Twitter, “the shopping module is a dedicated area at the top of the profile where companies can showcase their products. When users visit an account with the shopping module enabled. They can scroll through the product carousel and tap on a product to learn more and buy – seamlessly in the app’s browser without ever leaving Twitter. “

The concept of being able to purchase products directly in the app is not new. In the past we’ve seen companies like Instagram implement this, so this feature shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. It’s currently a pilot project available only to those in the US using the platform in English and iOS devices. But may become more accessible in the future.
