Lahore has been named the world’s most polluted city for the second time in less than a week, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) released Wednesday morning.
According to the newest Air Quality Index data, Lahore has surpassed New Delhi as the world’s most polluted city.
Karachi, however, had a PM level of 173, putting it fifth on the global list of most polluted cities.
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, was voted second most polluted, followed by Kolkata, India, and New Delhi, India.
LAHORE SCHOOL CLOSURES: SMOKE WARNINGS
The Punjab administration had already decided to close private and public schools in Lahore three times a week due to the worsening smog.
Punjab Relief Commissioner Babar Hayat Tarar announced the ban from November 27 to January 15. The commissioner stated private workplaces would be closed three days a week.
Weekends and Mondays are off for schools and offices.
