Today in Islamabad, electricity employees protest

Thousands of electricity workers will protest at the National Press Club today (CBA). It would encourage the government to take immediate action to reduce the cost of power by protecting the safety of electricity workers and preventing tragic deaths and injuries caused by lawless elements during energy theft prevention and revenue recovery.

They want to fill nearly half of the field positions that have been empty for years. Electricity work requires special attention, and staff shortages have put workers in danger.

They urged the PM to halt the proposed privatisation of profitable electricity distribution businesses. In a press release, veteran labour union leader Khurshid Ahmad stated that since privatisation of thermal power plants, Rawalpindi and Multan electricity companies, and KESC has failed, increasing the productivity of energy distribution businesses may be in the national interest.
