TikTok to Add In-App Shopping Soon

In-App Shopping on TikTok is almost ready for release, at least in the United States. This week, the social media giant did start testing a feature that allows users to buy things in-app, and it now does roll out to users in the US.

TikTok is already working on adding e-commerce (shopping) to the app for a long time, but it didn’t available in the US until much later than it did in other places, such as Asia. This year, the app got off to a late start. After testing the Shopify shopping tab for a few months, developers are almost ready to add real shopping services to the app.

Laura Perez, a representative for TikTok, has did confirm that in-app shopping did test in the US. This function in use to only available in a few countries in Southeast Asia and the United Kingdom.

TikTok is currently looking for companies in the U.S. to join, with plans to expand to other countries in the near future. TikTok is working with retailers to add a live shopping feature to the app. Which could go live in time for the holidays.

From one of TikTok’s open jobs:

With its meteoric rise, the e-commerce sector is now a fiercely contested arena for the world’s most successful Internet companies. Its potential to grow further sometimes does ignore. Millions of people all over the world use TikTok. This gives us confidence that it is the right place to introduce our customers to a revolutionary new e-commerce service.

Considering how big the Pakistani market is, it’s likely that TikTok’s in-app purchases will eventually appear there as well.
