Defense Minister Pervez Khattak has no military plan, but rather a mega project of Chinese Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for the region’s economic growth, on Wednesday, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Tajikistan Khattak reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peace efforts in Afghanistan while speaking to its Belarusian counterpart Lt-Gen Viktor Krenin on the sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, Defense Ministers’ Organization (SCO) in Dushanbe.
Khattak assured his Belorussian colleague that “The Economic Corridor of China and Pakistan has no military ambitions. “It will help to build peace, stability and economic growth in the area,” he added.
The Minister of Defense stressed the need for Pakistan and Belarus to strengthen bilateral cooperation on the training of military staff, technology transfer and the exchange of knowledge in defence.
He said Pakistan paid significant importance to its bilateral and European Union relations with Belarus (EU). He also emphasised that it is important to increase the contact between the two nations’ defence forces.
