The UK has recorded 30 blood clot cases following AstraZeneca vaccinations

In the UK, 30 cases of rare blood clots have been reported in the more than 18 million people vaccinated with AstraZeneca, national regulators said on Friday.

“The benefits of the Covid-19 vaccine continue to outweigh the risks,” said the Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), urging the public to continue taking vaccines.

As of March 24, 22 reports of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) and eight other low platelet thrombotic events had been reported.

“The risk of this type of blood clotting is very small,” the agency said.

“The number and types of suspected side effects reported to date are not uncommon when compared to other vaccines used routinely,” the MHRA said in a statement.
