The govt makes NITB an independent organization

The federal govt has officially recognized the National Information Technology Board (NITB) as an independent organization.

The Cabinet Division sent out a letter saying that the NITB already does move from the list of partner departments in Schedule III to the Information Technology and Telecommunications Division in Schedule II of the Rules of Business, 1973.

The letter also said that the Rules of Business, 1973. May get did change to reflect the changes did list above.

The Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT), the Secretary of MoITT, and the Secretary of the Finance Division. The Secretary of the Science and Technology Division, the Director General (Technical) of the ISI, the Secretary of the National Telecommunications and Information Technology Security Board, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Board are all members of the NIT Board.

Details say that the NITB will make a recommendation to the federal govt. The NIT Board will then choose an expert IT leader with a track record of honesty, competence, and success in leading IT development projects to serve as CEO for a minimum of three years. With the option to renew for an additional three years.

In addition to promoting open and effective government. The Board is also responsible for helping federal departments and agencies use e-governance.

It’s important to remember that the NITB Bill did pass unanimously by a joint session of parliament on June 9, 2022. So, on August 13, 2022, President Dr. Arif Alvi signed the National Information Technology Board Bill 2022 into law.
