According to the federal government, a medical board has been established to oversee the treatment of veteran comedian and actor Umer Sharif.
On the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the medical board has been tasked with determining whether or not the actor should be sent abroad for treatment of a cardiac condition he is now suffering from.
In a private hospital in the city, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry paid a visit to Umer Sharif, who was being treated at the time.
After afterwards, during a press conference, the governor said that he had met with actor Umer Sharif and that the actor had undergone dialysis today.
The comedian had demanded that Prime Minister Imran Khan make arrangements for his medical care in another country.
“In response to his appeal, the premier asked [Adviser on Health Dr Faisal Sultan] to look into the case and see whether Umer Sharif can be helped,” the governor stated.
Dr. Faisal Sultan and Dr. Yawar have been appointed to a board of directors, according to Dr. Ismail. As Ismail explained, “Action will be done in light of the conclusion reached by the board of doctors.”
In addition, he stated that “whether the actor requires an air ambulance or business class flight, whatever the board decides will be implemented.”
