The embassy of Pakistan is to be kept open in Kabul says FM Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the Pakistani embassy in the capital city of Kabul is operational and would continue to operate in the coming days.

Nevertheless, he stated that, when Taliban soldiers invaded the city Sunday midday, Pakistan will help everyone “stranded.”

A Taliban spokesperson said that Kabul would not be taken by force and that a negotiation will decide the destiny of the capital. Conflicting reports have been produced about the presence of Taliban fighters in various areas of the city.

It is also discussed that a transitional administration would have peaceful transfer of power, and that Ali Ahmad Jalali will lead the government.

Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan’s position that there is no military solution to Afghanistan’s problems during a news conference at Multan.

“The world is united in the opinion that only conversation can contribute to the resolution of the crisis,” he added. We should seek an inclusive and broad-based, peaceful solution.”

Qureshi believed that all ethnic groups should be properly represented in a war-torn country and that everyone should be permitted to seek a joint path forward.

“These are Afghan government test times. The country’s inhabitants only desire peace. They don’t want to lose their houses, they don’t want to move,” he says.
