The court ordered the National Accountability Bureau to submit a referral against Khawaja Asif

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been instructed to produce a report against the Pakistan Muslim League — Nawaz’s Khawaja Muhammad Asif by the accountability court of Lahore.

The PML-N leader till then has likewise been excused from court presence.

After hearing Asif’s request for the exemption, Judge Shaikh Sajjad Ahmed delivered on Friday a written order. On Thursday, Khawaja Asif received relief from the court.

Written on Friday stressed that the reference must be filed immediately.

The Court ordered that the NAB special prosecutor furnish the officer examining the assets of Asif with up to current evidence that, according to the accounting body, money generated beyond its means has accrued.

The Court of Responsibility claimed NAB did not submit any references against Asif, and the procedures without a reference court led to nothing. Asif was called after a reference had been filed by the NAB.

The file against Asif would be sent to the record room in the absence of a NAB reference.

Earlier on Thursday, during the court hearing the NAB prosecutor challenged the exemption by arguing that the accused had a statutory responsibility, until a formal ruling had been taken, to come before the Court.

The lawyer of Asif replied that exactly what his customer had wanted: till the reference was submitted, he asked for an exception.
