The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) granted permission for an air ambulance to land at Jinnah International Airport on Friday in order to transfer Umer Sharif, who is in critical condition, to the United States.
It is scheduled to arrive at Karachi International Airport at 11 p.m. on September 26 in an air ambulance with the call sign IFA1264.
In addition to the captain, five members of the air medical crew will accompany the renowned veteran comedian and actor on his journey to the United States through the Caribbean Sea.
A request for permission to enter Pakistan’s territory by an air ambulance carrying Sharif was made earlier this week by the Sindh administration, which was turned down by the federal government.
As stated in a letter to the Ministry of Finance sent on Monday, the Sindh Health Department has said that Sindh would cover all of the costs associated with an air ambulance.
The letter said that, on the other hand, issues pertaining to airspace and aviation fall within the jurisdiction of the national government.
As stated in the letter, the health department had asked the federal government to address all problems pertaining to air ambulance service in the shortest amount of time feasible.
The Sindh government has sought the release of the Foreign Exchange Budget 2021-22 in another letter sent to the Finance Division.
