Manny Jacinto, star of the upcoming Disney+ series The Acolyte, recently admitted to having a little fun on set by stealing his fellow actors’ lightsabers.
In an interview with Collider, the Canadian actor shared his extent of playing with the iconic Star Wars weapon, saying, “My extent of playing with the lightsabers is stealing Dafne [Keen] or Charlie [Barnett’s] lightsaber and taking selfies in the washroom. So I don’t really get to do that much, but it’s cool watching them work.”
Jacinto, who also stars in Top Gun: Maverick, added that he was always in awe seeing his fellow actors handle the lightsabers, making him “a little bit jealous.” He even joked about asking The Acolyte’s creator, Leslye Headland, for more lightsaber action in the upcoming season.
However, when it comes to his character in The Acolyte, Jacinto remained tight-lipped. “I can tell you that he’s a citizen. He’s a guy within this galaxy who gets pulled into this larger mission within the High Republic and the Jedi,” he said. “Whether he likes it or not, he’s kind of in this ride.”
The Acolyte, set in the Star Wars universe during the High Republic era, follows a dark side mystery that “will take us into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers and will be written by Headland, who is also the showrunner.”
The highly-anticipated series is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2024.
