Surveillance cameras installed in Karachi under safe city project

Karachi’s Additional Inspector General (AIG), Ghulam Nabi Memon, opened a control room in Clifton Park to monitor CCTV cameras installed in the area as part of the Safe City (SCP) project.

A total of 42 CCTV cameras were installed and a control room was set up in an upscale Karachi neighborhood to monitor and control street crime.

The Sindh Police has decided to work with the AIG Police to form a new unit called the Internal Accounting Unit (IAU). Led by a senior official, Farhat Junjo, the unit will ensure accountability and transparent policing across the province.

Speaking to Media, AIG Memon said that the SCP in Lahore had received praise from the police in London and that a similar project was being carried out in Karachi under the direction of Chief Minister Sindh.

“Our SCP will be better than Lahore,”
