Snapdragon 8 Gen1: The Basics

In Hawaii, Qualcomm unveiled its next-generation smartphone hardware platform, which has rebranded as the Snapdragon 8 Gen1. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is a significant rebranding from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

In case you missed it, Qualcomm has specified the name changes that will take effect on November 22, 2021. “Snapdragon” is now a standalone brand that is distinct from the Qualcomm brand. This shift has the potential to make Snapdragon even more consumer-friendly and to direct people’s attention away from the firm and toward the platform. The naming of the chip, on the other hand, is the most crucial aspect.

Instead of using model numbers such as Snapdragon 888 (which has used last year). The new Snapdragon has referred to as the “Snapdragon 8 Gen1”. Lower-tier Snapdragon processors are likely to use the same naming scheme as higher-tier Snapdragon chips, making the distinction between “Tiers” (from low-end to high-end) and “Generation” less clear (which year). In this example, “8” denotes the top tier of smartphone chips, while “Gen1” denotes the generation beginning in 2022.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor is built using Samsung’s 4nm semiconductor process, which is one of the most advanced currently available. However, TSMC is a strong competitor and has a similar technology.
