Sikh Pilgrims Celebrated Baba Guru Nanak Birth Anniversary in Nankana Sahib

Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, was born 552 years ago today, and thousands of Sikh pilgrims from India and around the world have gathered in Nankana Sahib to commemorate the occasion.

The celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak’s birth, which began on November 17 in his birthplace and will continue until the 26th of this month, will continue till the end of the month. The 10-day celebration kicked off with a practice known as ‘Akhand Path,’ which involves reciting around 1,430 pages of Granth Sahib — the sacred book of Sikhism – in unison. The major ceremony of the festival, which will take place today at Gurdwara Janamasthan, will take place tomorrow.


Pakistan has taken special precautions to ensure the safety of the Sikh community on the occasion of Baba Guru Nanak’s birthday. Various departments have already finalized the required arrangements, including security, lodging, food, healthcare, and transportation, to make the Sikh pilgrims’ journey as smooth and comfortable as possible.

There are also numerous Sikh leaders present at the major event of the celebrations today, which is being hosted by the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony, Noorul Haq Qadri. The Federal Minister for Narcotics Control, Ijaz Ahmed Shah, was also there.

Greeting the pilgrims in Nankana Sahib, Qadri stated, “The government of Pakistan has made every effort to ensure that the Sikh pilgrims receive the finest possible services.”

Baba Guru Nanak spread the message of peace and fraternity throughout the world. ” “It is vital to eliminate all barriers,” he continued.

“All religions are respected in Pakistan.” All minorities are fully safe in this place. People of all religious backgrounds in the country enjoy complete religious freedom,” Qadri asserted.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism, Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed his congratulations to Sikh pilgrims.

Despite political difficulties, Pakistan and India have made arrangements to assist the Sikh community on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak. On Wednesday, some 3,000 Sikh pilgrims from India crossed into Pakistan through the Wagha border crossing to take part in the festivities.
