According to Indian media, a case has filed against the actress Shilpa Shetty in 2007 for spreading obscenity. The actress was the victim of Richard Gere’s notorious kiss, according to a court ruling.
Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere attended an AIDS awareness event in Rajasthan in 2007. On stage, Richard hugged Shilpa several times and kissed her on the cheek. After which several demonstrations and complaints had registered against the actress across the country.

The complaint against the actress was that the actress did not protest when actor Gere kissed her. The obscenity case against Shilpa Shetty has transferred from Rajasthan Court to Mumbai on the orders of the Supreme Court.
Whereas, Mumbai court had acquitted Shilpa Shetty on January 18. After considering the police report and the documents presented, the magistrate has satisfied that the allegations against Shilpa were baseless. Metropolitan Magistrate said in the court order that Shilpa appears to be a victim of Richard Gere’s alleged act. She clarified her position immediately after the incident.
Moreover, Hollywood actor Richard Gere’s statues have burned after a controversial kiss. He later apologized to the actress while termed the protest against him as excessive reaction.
