Shaukat Tarin says Govt want to get rid of IMF program

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin stated that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) should be phased out as soon as possible.

Shaukat Tarin, speaking at an event in Karachi, stated that the system of obtaining loans from several countries should be abolished. He went on to say that the government wished to get rid of the IMF program as soon as possible.

In Pakistan, he criticized the fact that just two million out of 38 million families pay taxes. According to Tarin, the administration is working to bring non-filers into the tax system.

Retailer tax reforms will be implemented, and financial regulations will be developed after extensive debate, according to the finance minister.

The finance minister claimed that Usman Dar, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, was responsible for the overhaul of the Kamyab Jawan program. He went on to say that the Kamyab Jawan program is a huge project that would be rolled out across the country this month.

Shaukat Tarin promised that the government has taken notice of the problems experienced by business people and that they will be resolved on a priority basis.

Shaukat Tarin had earlier this month stated that the Pakistani rupee has recovered sharply against the US dollar after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) authorized a $1 billion loan tranche.

Following the Fund’s confirmation of the loan tranche, the minister stated that the native currency began to rise against the dollar.
