Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy has criticized LSA for their nomination of Feroze Khan, who is accused of being a domestic abuser.
Lux Style Awards released yesterday the list of nominees for the “Best Actor, Male” category at the Viewers’ Choice Awards. Feroze was on that list. After that, Sharmeen criticised these prizes on her Instagram stories, calling them hypocritical for the way they were presented.
She also said that she was given the Lux Lifetime Achievement Award, which she plans to give back to the company because she no longer thinks that the two companies have the same goals.
She also said that the company was committed to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, which include provisions for equal rights for men and women.
However, in response to the criticism that has been expressed, Lux has said unequivocally that the nominations have been accepted by networks and artists as an “open call” for entries.
“As part of our third-party, independent, and transparent voting process, which is audited from start to finish by PricewaterhouseCoopers, LSA cannot participate in short-listing, vetting, or getting rid of any entries or nominations,” the statement says. It said so in the official Instagram post.
