Colombian singer Shakira is facing yet another heartbreak as her mother, Nidia Ripoll, was rushed to hospital with a blood clot reportedly linked to deep vein thrombosis. According to reports, Nidia’s medical emergency occurred on Friday, March 17, but she is now thought to be out of danger.
This comes less than a year after Shakira’s 90-year-old father suffered a bad fall and was rushed to the hospital. As a result of her father’s poor health, the singer decided to delay her move from Barcelona to Miami with her two sons, Milan and Sasha.
The news of Nidia’s health scare also comes amid Shakira‘s recent split with long-term partner, Gerard Pique. The ex-couple, who share two children, reached a custody agreement in November, with Pique signing a contract that allows him to spend holiday time with their sons.
Shakira and Pique released a joint statement regarding their split, saying that their “sole objective is to provide [their children] with the utmost security and protection, and we trust that their privacy will be respected.”
It remains to be seen how Shakira will handle these multiple heartbreaks in her personal life, but her fans will undoubtedly be sending their support and well-wishes during this difficult time.
