Shahzad Akbar denies having met Jahangir Tareen

Prime Minister Shahzad Akbar’s adviser emphatically rejected meetings with exiled PTI leader, Jahangir Tarin, insisting that the prime minister’s commitment to accountability remains “unshakable.”

On Wednesday Shahzad Akbar wrote on Twitter that an investigation into a person is the subject of an investigative agency.

“Contrary to reports/statements in the media, there was no meeting with JKT. Barrister Ali Zafar has denied that the pending FIA investigation report is related to him. Criminal police are the absolute responsibility of the investigating authorities,” he tweeted.

“The PTI government agency believes in institutional independence, rule of law, and accountability in all fields. PM @ ImranKhanPTI’s commitment to the process of accountability and justice remains steadfast, “he added.

His remarks came after MNA Raja Riaz, the senior leader of the PTI members who supported Tareen, who claimed the one-man committee set up by Prime Minister Khan had made clean changes to the former PTI secretary-general.

In an interview with Geo Pakistan on Wednesday, Riaz said Lawyer Ali Zafar found Tarin innocent in his report, a victory for the group.

“Ali Zafar’s lawyer submitted his report which was also submitted to the Prime Minister. Thanks to the Almighty, Tarin has been acquitted of all charges and has nothing to do with the transaction. This is our group’s victory, ”said Riaz.
