Shahbaz Sharif argues that no party can dispose of another PDM

Opposition National Assembly leader Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that no party has the right to exclude another from the Pakistan Democratic Movement alliance.

His remarks come amid reports of his interest in PPP and ANP joining the alliance.

The PML-N president spoke with PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at a press conference in Islamabad after the two met today ahead of the long-awaited PDM meeting.

“Neither party has the right to withdraw or expel another party. PDM is a forum and decisions are made based on deliberation,” said Shahbaz when asked about PPP and ANP.

He also told reporters that once consultations are over and decisions are made, the President of the Alliance will announce future actions to be taken.

When journalists pressed the PML-N president for his position on the return of the two parties, he made it clear that he had no “personal opinion” and that whatever he said was “the opinion of the party”.
