Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, stated that normalizing ties with its nuclear-armed neighbor would be impossible unless India reversed its August 5, 2019 decision to annex Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The news follows the federal cabinet’s denial of an ECC plan to import cotton yarn and sugar from India.
The decision to reject the proposal was made during a cabinet meeting in Islamabad chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, just hours after Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari announced that the cabinet would revisit the ECC’s trade decisions with India.
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in a video statement that the decision to import cotton and yarn from India was discussed in the cabinet.

“Following a debate on the issue, the federal cabinet [has] delayed the decision,” he said, adding that normalization of relations will remain a pipe dream until India reverses its August 5, 2019 decision.
Federal Finance Minister Hammad Azhar had announced a day before that the government planned to import sugar and cotton from India.
