Security plan, Covid SOPs declared for PSL 7

Pakistan Super League (PSL) edition 7 matches will be held at the National Stadium in Karachi, and a security plan and COVID SOPs have been declared. A total of 5,600 security officers will be on hand to defend the event throughout the city.

According to the specifics of the comprehensive security plan, a total of 5,600 security personnel would be deployed for the PSL 7 matches, including 1200 SSU commandos, 1700 members of the security division, 1500 traffic police officers, 500 members of the special branch, 200 members of the rapid response force, and members of the Sindh Rangers.

In addition, a special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team will be on standby 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergency reaction, and expert shooters will be stationed at critical locations to protect the area around the stadium and other important locations.

According to the specifics, security officers would be stationed at the National Stadium, the Karachi airport, roads used by PSL teams, practice grounds, parking lots, and hotels, among other locations.

A dedicated command and control bus will be stationed outside the stadium to coordinate the complete security apparatus, which will include overhead surveillance during the teams’ journey through the stadium.

According to the proposal, all roads, with the exception of one track of Sir Suleman Shah Road, will stay closed, and spectators will be transported to the stadium by a shuttle bus service, which will be provided by the city. All vehicles transporting compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinders will be denied access to the restricted regions.

In terms of COVID SOPs, it has been revealed that persons attending PSL matches at the National Stadium will be required to present a national identification card (NIC) as well as a COVID vaccination certificate. The use of a facemask will be mandatory, and anyone found in violation of the NCOC guidelines would be ejected from the venue.

Aside from that, no spectator will be permitted to bring firearms, toy guns, or explosives into the stadium. This also includes cigarettes, matchboxes, knives, or any other sharp-pointed object into the stadium.
