SC prevents NAB from detaining an asset advisor for Sindh CM

The Supreme Court revoked Aijaz Jakhrani’s detention in an asset case by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The office was prevented from detaining him by an Apex court panel up to next hearing and asked for the bail request to be set for hearing before a three-member SC bench.

Judge Sajjad Ali Shah said that because Jakhrani’s bail request was rejected by a two-member Sindh High Court bench (SHC), the top court bench with three judges may consider the issue. Attorney Makhdoom Ali Khan of Jakhrani argued before the Court that two inquiries had previously granted bail to his client.

On 24 June the Sindh Court rejected its bail request and ignored the evidence. Aijaz Jakhrani’s prior-arrest bail application, with the exception of NAB’s apprehension, was accepted by the Supreme Court last week till 19 July.

After the SHC refused his bail in the assets case, Jakhrani brought a bail application before the Supreme Court.
