SC gives a warning against hate speech by PPP leader

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court (SC) warned PPP activist Masood ur Rehman Abbasi not to disrespect his speech against Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed.

A four-person panel, chaired by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, heard the previous day’s trial for insulting Abasi today.

Earlier, the 23rd Executive Committee of the Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBAP) also condemned Abbasi’s behavior when he was briefed on a video in which Abbasi used obscene language against the CJP.

“Masud ur Rehman Abasi of PPP made sarcastic and abusive comments towards Pakistan’s presiding judge,” the court said during the trial.

“Masood ur Rehman Abbasi is Secretary General of the Pakistan People’s Party in the PS-114 constituency. The Sindh government must ensure compliance with the justification. “

The SC ordered the FIA ??and PEMRA to compile and submit unsolicited material and also instructed Inspector General Sind to ensure Abbasi’s presence at the next session.

The court also sent a notification to the Attorney General of Pakistan, the Sindh government, adjourning the trial until Monday (28 June).
