Satechi’s New USB-C Hub

Those who own USB-A accessories and gadgets will have forced to use USB hubs or deal with adapters as more laptop makers opt to ditch traditional USB ports in favour of the more recent USB-C standard as more laptop manufacturers do away with the older USB-A standard. If you’re considering a hub, you might interested in Satechi’s latest USB-C hub, which is currently available.

For example, while USB hubs are plentiful, Satechi’s latest USB-C hub can really support an SSD. Which is rare in this industry. In addition to an M.2 connector, the Satechi USB-C Hybrid Multiport Adapter also includes a SATA SSD attachment port. Which will allow customers to connect a SATA SSD to the hub. In practise, this means that not only can the hub accept a variety of USB-A and USB-C devices, but it can also function as a sort of external drive.

Although Satechi does not offer an SSD with the hub. You will need to purchase one separately, at the very least it provides users with a variety of possibilities. Another thing to keep in mind is that the hub will only allow users to access the SSD at USB 3.0 rates. Which has a maximum transfer rate of five gigabits per second. So you won’t be able to take full benefit of the SSD’s speeds.

However, it is more handy to have a hub with a built-in SSD. Rather than having to tote around an additional external drive in addition to the hub, thus depending on your needs. Some may find this useful, while others may find it to be a little sluggish. Satechi’s USB hub has priced at $90, which is a bit steep for such a small peripheral.
