Today the Sindh cabinet approved compensation for store owners who lost their livelihoods as a result of the fire that destroyed the Saddar market Karachi.
An emergency meeting of the provincial cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, approved the allocation of Rs915230000 in money for the payment of compensation to shops in the Cooperative and Victoria markets.
As a result of the two fires, the cabinet was informed that as many as 280 businesses had been damaged.
The Saddar Cooperative Market fire, which occurred on November 14th, destroyed hundreds of shops. A few days later, a fire at Saddar’s Victoria Market destroyed more than 50 businesses and warehouses, causing widespread devastation.

Murtaza Wahab, the provincial government’s spokesperson and administrator in Karachi, had earlier stated that the Sindh government had chosen to pay the store owners who had been harmed by the fires at the Saddar market Karachi.
As a result of the fire, “the government has decided to pay the affected shop owners of Cooperative and Victoria Markets whose businesses were significantly harmed by the catastrophe,” he wrote in a Twitter message.

Wahab stated that a committee has been constituted to determine the extent of the losses caused by the fire occurrences and to provide compensation to those who have been affected by them.
