Russia hopes that India and China would find a way to resolve the conflict in the Ladakh border region. It is said by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
During the briefing, the official said Moscow was monitoring the situation. We welcomed the agreement reached after a telephone conversation between the country’s foreign ministers on February 25.
“We respect the parties’ desire to advance this issue without foreign intervention [and] in the multilevel bilateral dialogue mechanism they have established. Also Russia hopes that the two countries find mutually acceptable peaceful ways to resolve tensions as quickly as possible in responsible manner for region’s peace, “said Zakharova.
After the war between India and China in 1962, the two did not have a well-demarcated border in the Himalayas. As a result, the region experienced frequent clashes between the two sides’ militaries.

A deadly escalation near Pangong Tso Lake on the so-called Line of Actual Control happened last May. India and China have increased their military presence in the disputed region and launched consultations on secession.
In February, the two countries withdrew their troops from the Lake Pangong Tso area. Also hosted the 10th round of the summit, which discussed other issues in the region.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar later discussed the situation in the Ladakh border region and relations between New Delhi and Beijing in a telephone conversation with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi.
