In a recent interview with Net-a-Porter, the 33-year-old actress spoke about the importance of the role to her and how she brought her own experiences to the character.

Keough said she wanted Daisy to have a sense of “journey” and wanted to show her in a more human light before she became the quintessential, drug-addled rock star.

Riley Keough identified with Daisy’s struggle to reconcile how she wanted the world to be with the reality of what she was facing. The actress also spoke about the misogyny that women faced in the public eye, then and now.

Despite being the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and daughter of Lisa Marie Presley, Keough admitted that she lied about being able to sing to get the role.
