Athar Minallah, Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), has said that those responsible for the Murree incident deserve to be hanged and that there is no need for an investigation into the incident.
Athar Minallah, Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, heard a petition from a victim of the Murree incident, requesting that the incident be investigated.
In attendance during the hearing of his petition was Hamad Abbasi, a resident of Murree, who was accompanied by his attorney to the courtroom. His client pleaded with the court to take action against individuals responsible for the Murree tragedy because of their criminal irresponsibility. The court agreed.
As stated by the lawyer, the family of the deceased ASI Naveed had alerted the higher authorities about the issue, but the prime minister, the interior minister, and the police did nothing despite having received the information.
Another question raised by the attorney was why more than 100,000 tourists were permitted to visit Murree. The failure of these senior officials to take appropriate action in the wake of the occurrence demonstrates their criminal neglect.
The court then called Deputy Attorney General Tayyab Shah to the rostrum for further discussion. The Chief Justice inquired of the deputy attorney general on the meaning of catastrophe management.
The officers from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) appeared in court after being summoned by the IHC. The Chief Justice summoned them to the rostrum and punished them for their failure to protect the tourists’ lives, which he considered to be extremely important.

According to the court, the NDMA officials’ negligence was awful, and Court questioned them about who was to blame for the 22 deaths that occurred as a result of the disaster. Everyone should have been able to see how well NDMA was performing.
As Chief Justice Athar Minallah observed during the hearing, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was an extremely large department that had never had a meeting. In order to avoid an incident like the Murree tragedy, a proper management strategy must have been in place, the Chief Justice said.
