Queen Elizabeth will not appoint the next Prime Minister of UK for the first time

The current prime minister of UK, Boris Johnson and his next successor will visit Queen Elizabeth at her Scottish residence. The Queen will not meet with her next prime minister of UK at Buckingham Palace for the first time in her 70-year reign.

Queen Elizabeth will not leave Balmoral to meet the incoming prime minister in London or Windsor. The Prime Minister’s itinerary will have some stability. Having this strategy in place ensures that there will be no last-minute adjustments needed in the event that Queen Elizabeth experiences episodic mobility challenges.

Either Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak will name the new leader of the Conservative Party on September 5. Boris Johnson has expected to announce his resignation to the Queen on September 6. The Queen will formally appoint Truss or Sunak as Johnson’s successor on September 7.

According to reports, the decision came from Buckingham Palace likely to raise worries and questions about the Queen’s health. And it’s a testament to the monarch’s dogged will to fulfil her constitutional obligations as head of state.

The Queen takes a multi-week vacation at Balmoral Castle every summer and returns to her current official residence, Windsor Castle.
