Qualcomm announces affordable Snapdragon phone chips

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 (SD6G1) and 4 Gen 1 (SD4G1) chipsets (chips) are new from Qualcomm. They cater to affordable and mid-range mobile devices. Not too long ago, Snapdragon 8 and 7 Gen 1 came out. Now there is a choice for less expensive smartphones.

The SD6G1 employs TSMC’s 4 nm technology, while the SD4G1 uses 6 nm. Both the SD4G1 and the SD6G1 have eight processing cores, but the main core of the SD4G1 can only run at 2.0GHz, while the main core of the SD6G1 can run at 2.2GHz. In the same way, Qualcomm has said nothing about the Adreno GPUs that are on board.

Qualcomm has only said that the GPU is 35% more powerful than it was before and that it can process data 40% faster. They haven’t said what processor they compared it to. Since Qualcomm doesn’t make any other chips in the 400 families, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1’s CPU and GPU are also 15% faster and 10% faster, respectively, than the Snapdragon 480/480+.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1’s 12-bit Spectra Triple image signal processor makes the 200MP cameras and native HDR image capture possible (ISP). In addition to enhancing general performance and efficiency, the bokeh effect. Other features, the latest Qualcomm AI Engine is in use. In terms of networking, it has Wi-Fi 6E and a 4th-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon X62 5G modem.

The older Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 from Qualcomm also came with an AI Engine. The Spectra Triple ISP on this chip has Multi-frame Noise Reduction technology. Which lets it process images from cameras with a resolution of 108 megapixels. The Snapdragon X51 5G modem gives you access to 5G, but it does not include Wi-Fi 6E.

Vivo will release the iQOO Z6 Lite in a few weeks. It will have a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor, while Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 smartphones aren’t expected to hit the market until the first quarter of 2023.
