Qamar Javed Bajwa meets Uzbekistan ambassador: ISPR

Aybek Arif Usmanov, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters (GHQ) today and reviewed the regional security situation which cited Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

There were discussions about issues of mutual interest, regional security situations, and bilateral cooperation between the two countries, according to an ISPR statement released after the meeting.

Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, stated that Pakistan appreciates its connections with Uzbekistan, particularly in the area of defence cooperation. Both expressed a wish to further develop bilateral relations, including cooperation on measures to maintain peace and security in the region.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Aybek Arif Usmanov, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s contribution to regional peace and committed to continue working for improved relations between the two fraternal countries.

Recent reports indicate that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa undertook an official visit to Belgium, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During his visit General Bajwa met with Stefano Sannino, Secretary-General of the European External Action Services (EEAS), and General Claudio Graziano, Chairman of the European Union’s Military Committee, among other officials.

During the meeting, issues of common interest were covered, as well as the broader regional security situation, which included the current situation in Afghanistan, and bilateral relations with the European Union.

According to the Inter-Services Public Connections (ISPR), the army chief stated that Pakistan appreciates its relations with EU countries and looks forward to strengthening mutual collaboration on the basis of common interests.

EU dignitaries expressed their appreciation for Pakistan’s sincere efforts to promote peace and stability in the area and committed to play a role in increasing engagement with Pakistan at all levels in the future.
