Punjab reported the first two new instances of Eta variants

During the fourth wave of coronavirus, Punjab reported the first two new Eta variant cases.

Professor Javed Akram from University of Health Sciences VC said the current sample of COVID-19 patients include all versions, including Eta.

The institution has data on over 300 samples for June and July, according to a statement published on Saturday. The division includes: Alpha (57%), Delta (14%) and Beta (11 percent).

He stated that one percent of the samples also had the novel Eta vary (the first discovered in Nigeria).

He noted that the university figures on the website of the WHO were for April. In a few of days, the latest data is revealed.

In the last 24 hours, Punjab recorded 1,099 new cases.
