Punjab announces new schedule for schools

A revised schedule of public and private schools in Lahore and Rawalpindi has been released by Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas in response to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases reported.

Murad Raas declared on Twitter that classes up to Grade 6 will be scheduled until February 15, with 50 percent of students attending each day. Furthermore, he stated that classes 7 to 12 will continue to operate on the existing schedule.

Earlier, on January 27, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) agreed to extend restrictions for schools in cities with a positive Covid-19 case rate of more than 10% until the middle of February.

The country’s nerve center for Covid response had ruled that schools in cities with an infection rate of more than 10% would be allowed to admit students under the age of 12 who had at least 50% attendance in the previous school year (staggered days).

Classes for students above the age of 12 who have been completely vaccinated, on the other hand, will continue with full attendance.

It stated that vaccination of students over the age of 12 will be mandatory starting on February 1. Testing on a large scale will continue at educational institutions around the country in preparation for their planned closure.
